On My Own Center- This math center is designed for independent 'On My Own' practice to develop the concept of place value or base ten math enters / math stations. There are 9 different math centers / math stations for base 10 place value included in this pack. Center 1: Treasure Chest: Look at the number on the treasure chest. Find the golden coins to match. Center 2: What's the Number. Look at the value of the 10s and 1s to work out the number. Find the matching card. Center 3: Popping Numbers:Match the popcorn box and the popcorn pieces together. Center 4: Monster Spin: Spin a 100, a 10 and a 1. Write the number you have spun on the recording sheet. Center 5: Cat Scratch: Count the base 10 to work out the number. Record them on the sheet. Center 6: Greater than, Less than: Count the base 10 blocks on each side and decide where the greater than, less than and equal to signs should go. Center 7: Scoop it Up! Read the number on the ice cream container and build your ice cream sundae to match! Center 8: Monster Clip: Look at the underlined number and decide its value. Use a clothespin to clip you answer. Center 9: Up Up and Away: Using playing cards, turn them over and place them in each column. Record your number.

Center 1: Monster Order: Differentiated (Numbers 1 - 10, 11-20, 1 - 50) Look at the numbers on the card and write them from biggest to smallest or smallest to biggest. Center 2: Sunrise: Spin 4 numbers on the sun and record the numbers you have spun. Then sort them from smallest to biggest. Center 3: Sunset: Spin 4 numbers on the sun and record the numbers you have spun. Then sort them from biggest to smallest. Center 1: True or False: Sort the multiplication sentences into true or false. Center 2: Roll and Cover: Roll 2 dice and multiply them together and cover the number in the bubble using a counter. Center 3: Floating Balloons: Find the missing number to complete the multiplication sentence. Center 4: Puzzle times: Find the matching puzzle pieces for the answer at the top of the puzzle. Center 5: Domino cover up: Using real dominos or the provided ones, use the domino dot pattern to find the answer and cover. This is a great resource as well as a fun way to reinforce or introduce comparing of animal numbers by using weights (pounds - lb) as well as addition using base 10 blocks. There are 2 ways to use this resource: Animal Trump / War and Addition using base 10 system. Option 1: Animal Trump / Animal War Students pair up and shuffle one deck and hand out equally. Students turn one card over at a time to reveal their animal weights. Students then compare which animal is heavier. The student with the heavier animal is the winner. Set 1: Comparing numbers to 20 Set 2: Comparing numbers to 50 Set 3: Comparing numbers to 100 Set 4: Comparing numbers with real animal weights - up to 3100lb. Option 2: Addition using the base 10 system Set A – Addition with no regrouping Set 1 – Addition with regrouping to 40 Set 2 – Addition with regrouping to 100 Set 3: Addition with regrouping to 200 These sets can be used to target differentiation by teaching addition strategies using base 10 blocks with or without regrouping. Students pull 2 animal cards and add these numbers together using base 10 blocks.
